Building in women's health.
Somehow women's health is always reduced to fertility. Not that fertility is small, or insignificant or unnecessary. Quite the opposite, actually. But there is a before and after fertility that both supports and outlives this miraculous milestone. Our hormones are more than just a gauge of our ability to conceive — they are a foundational pillar for our wellbeing and optimal functioning much like our male counterparts.
I struggled with irregular periods from the very beginning of my "fertile years" — a term I learned in the last year. Despite countless ultrasounds and bloodwork, seeing multiple practitioners across continents, and an unexpected pituitary surgery, I still did not have an answer for my irregular periods. And it felt like conception was always the end goal in most conversations. But turns out, this was a deep metabolic dysfunction — with very clear symptoms that I did not know were abnormal. Apparently, not normal to have brain fog after lunch.
As I set out on my journey to "fix" myself, most recommendations felt generic, the appointments were too short to go deep and I was spending countless hours trying to connect the dots between the different points of views from Endocrinologists, OBGYNs and nutritionists. And to be honest, I did not always know what to flag to a doctor because I was so used to my symptoms and how I was feeling.
As I entered my late 30s, I heard very similar things from friends — even though we had different conditions, or none that we knew of. I noticed that most of us saw remarkable improvements when we paid attention to our body, nourished ourselves appropriately and uniquely for our condition(s), cycle, and symptoms and stayed well informed about how our lifestyles impacted us. It's like building a deep relationship with ourselves. Pretty basic and obvious stuff. But very scrappy, time consuming, fragmented and frankly exhausting at the same time.
So I set out to create what was missing — an AI nutrition coach that helps women understand how their bodies uniquely behave, have better conversations with practitioners, and nourish the body in ways hyper specific to your condition.
I've spent the last several months listening to women, iterating on the product, while also nourishing my own health. Like I said, it's a journey.
Hormonal (a name I love, but may not be able to keep), is currently in a closed beta round. You can sign up to be one of the trusted testers here. Or if you'd prefer to just share your insights, I'd love to hear from you.
